　　我们一起看1个句子

　　探究探究这些看起来好像很难的句子

　　究竟是不是纸老虎

　　The extreme seriousness of desertification results from the vast areas of land and the tremendous numbers of people affected, as well as from the great difficulty of reversing or even slowing the process.

　　我们拿这个看起来好像不是很短的句子分析一下。

　　其实，我们可以将句子进行简化，句子意思立马能非常好理解。

　　Of前后的名词表所属关系，通常情况下，我们可以将它们作为一个整体来理解，例如：

　　● extreme seriousness of desertification = A

　　● the vast areas of land = B

　　● the tremendous numbers of people = C

　　● the great difficulty of reversing or even slowing the process = D

　　整个句子可以简化成这样的： A results from B and C affected, as well as from D.

　　“A这样的结果是因为B和C受到了影响，也是因为D的原因。” 句子简化后，句意是不是很清晰啦？

　　到这一步，我们再把A, B, C, D所代表的意思塞进去，整个句子的意思就是这样的：

　　“ 沙漠化的极端严重性是因为受到其影响的土地范围广，人数多，而且要逆转改变或减慢沙漠化的进程难度都相当大。”

　　The new accessibility of land around the periphery of almost every major city sparked an explosion of real estate development and fueled what we now know as urban sprawl.

　　除了of结构可以看做一个整体之外，我们还可以把从句也看成一个整体来理解。 例如：

　　● The new accessibility of land around the periphery of almost every major city = A

　　● an explosion of real estate development = B

　　● what we now know as urban sprawl = C

　　整个句子可以简化成这样的：“A sparked B and fueled C.” = “A触发了B，推动了C。”

　　再将of结构和从句的意思添加进去，整个句子的意思为：

　　“每个主要城市周边的土地几乎都可以使用，这使得房地产蓬勃发展，推动我们所知的城市化进程。”
